Tewkesbury Medieval Festival takes place on fields off Lincoln Green Lane, part of the site of the original Battle of Tewkesbury of 1471 - all free of charge!. Check out the program of events and activities for full details.

New to the festival in 2009

The “Bright Knight” learning zone is new to the Medieval Festival for 2009. Its aim is to enable children to understand just how interesting and exciting history can be. Through-out both days of the festival, the “Bright Knight” will be welcoming a range of interesting visitors including a story-teller and fire-eater, a treasure-detecting team and a Fletcher. There will also be medieval toys, shield and wimple making, mad-medieval quizzes and newspaper challenges! Go on, it's worth a visit.

Camping

Camping and is available at the Lower Lode Inn. The inn is on the opposite side of the Severn to the Festival site and has a regular link by ferry. For full details email info@lowerlodeinn.co.uk or phone 01684 293224.

Battlefield walks

Regular guided tours of the battlefield, are conducted during the festival, with a full description of the events leading up to the Battle of Tewkesbury, the conduct of the battle, and the aftermath. These walks are taken at a leisurely pace, and last about two hours.

The walks are organised by the Tewkesbury battlefield Society, which exists to promote knowledge of the battlefield.
