It’s our 25th  anniversary – and we are CELEBRATING .

We have got top jousting team, Destrier, who will be putting on a full-scale joust as well as a display of skills at arms

There will be a huge procession through the town, led by a 25 ft tall female giant.
The parade leaves The Old Black Bear at the top of the High Street at 11am, and the fair will be officially opened at 12 – although the gates will be open from 11.
Well-known actor and historian Robert Hardy CBE will be giving a talk on the history of the English Long Bow.

On Saturday Evening Theatre of Alchemy will be putting a spectacular fire show in the vicarage garden, courtesy of Canon Paul Williams, and the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev Michael Perham will be taking a Sunday morning service on the battlefield.

We have pulled out all the stops to get the best entertainers, and more of them than ever before, and our medieval market will be the biggest and best we have ever had

Over 2000 re enactors

Steven Goodchild

The re-creation of the battle of Tewkesbury, featuring over 2000 re-enactors, from all over Europe will be the most spectacular ever –all we need to make it perfect is some lovely weather, and of course for you to turn up and enjoy it.

Tewkesbury Medieval Festival takes place on fields off Lincoln Green Lane, part of the site of the original battle of Tewkesbury of 1471.

Entry is free, with a small charge for car parking.

The battle will be at 4pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday – times for the joust have yet to be arranged, but will be before the battle.

Tewkesbury is 1 mile from junction 9 of the M5 and the festival site will be signed from all main entrances to the town.

Tewkesbury is about a mile from junction 9 of the M5. The fair site is well signed from there. Pedestrian access is down Lower Lode Lane. Entrance to the fair is free.

The site is spread over several fields, so whilst everyone is welcome wheelchair access is possible, but not easy. First aiders and security personnel are on duty throughout the weekend. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times and doggy bags and bins are provided. For further information ring Tewkesbury Tourist Information Centre on 01684 855040
